About

Tenaciously keen for versatility and color, Dr. Jordan Hastings has established himself as a brilliant oboist and english hornist in the music community. As a solo and chamber musician, Dr. Hastings continues to lead a robust international career through performances with the West Texas Symphony, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Chamber Orchestra, Ballet Lubbock, Lubbock Civic Orchestra, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (NH), the Clearlakes Chorale, the University of New Hampshire funded Chamber Tour to China, and the Texas Tech University funded tour to Mexico.

Dr. Hastings is currently a freelance musician in the Texas Panhandle region and makes custom, artisanal reeds for oboists and music companies across the country. He is Principal Oboe of the Lubbock Civic Orchestra and Oboe Teaching Artist at Lubbock Symphony.

 

Passionate for music education, he is Adjunct Professor of Oboe at Lubbock Christian University and Applied Oboe Instructor for the Lubbock Cooper Independent School District. Other degrees he holds are from Texas Tech University, the University of New Hampshire and The University of Akron, including international education from Testrup Højskole and Musik og Teaterhøjskolen in Denmark. 

His teachers include Susie Rockett, Amy Anderson, Jack Harel, Margaret Herlehy, and Bert Lucarelli.

 

Dr. Jordan Hastings plays a Loreé Royal oboe and a Mönnig Diamant English Horn.
