About

Tenaciously keen for versatility and color, Jordan Hastings has established himself as a brilliant oboist and english hornist in the music community. As a solo and chamber musician, Hastings continues to lead a robust international career through performances with the West Texas Symphony, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Chamber Orchestra, Ballet Lubbock, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (NH), the Clearlakes Chorale, and the University of New Hampshire funded Chamber Tour to China.

Hastings is a Doctoral Candidate at Texas Tech University where he holds the position of Oboe Teaching Assistant. In Spring 2024, he will debut his first solo and chamber album along with his doctoral dissertation—a performance guide to the Grawemeyer Award winning Danish composer Bent Sørensen’s two solo oboe pieces The Shadow of the Shepherds and Plainte d’un Troubadour.

Passionate for music education, he has served on the music faculty of Lubbock Christian University. Other degrees he holds are from the University of New Hampshire and The University of Akron, including international education from Testrup Højskole and Musik og Teaterhøjskolen in Denmark.

His teachers include Susie Rockett, Amy Anderson, Jack Harel, Margaret Herlehy, and Bert Lucarelli.

Jordan Hastings plays a Loreé Royal.
